The above match was played on Monday 11th August. at Ludlow GC. The weather was mostly fine, with the odd heavy shower and lots of wind which made the matches very interesting!
All of the players reported that their matches had been played fairly seriously but in an excellent spirit and a lot of fun and banter had been enjoyed most of the time.
There was a lot of discussion before the match as to how many courtesy shots the Ladies should receive but a compromise was reached, no blood was spilt and the results reasonably supported the final decision.
Thanks to the gentlemen for hosting the match. We all enjoyed a lovely meal afterwards and the wine on the tables was very welcome! A lot of the matches were very close, unfortunately not for my partner Anne Belshaw and I who played against the men’s Captain, Tony Harrop and John Homer with handicaps of 5 and 6!
Good wins were enjoyed by Anita Morley with Monica Scott, Linda Perks with Margaret Ratcliffe, and Yvonne Aldrych with Margaret Dunbar. Angela Spooner and Sue Field gained a half against Trevor Rowlands and Gordon Taylor.
The final match score was a win for the Gentlemen 9-7.
Thank you to all the Ladies who played. (Report by SLCGA Seniors’ Captain, Kathy Evans)
