Within Shropshire we aim to engage as many junior girls as possible in our events.  These events range from fun days for complete beginners to competitive events and matches for scratch and international players.

Coaching: We want to develop a team ethos within the County and therefore we offer group coaching sessions for all girls in the County with groups being organised according to handicaps: –    Pee Wee and beginner group; Development Group (held at Shrewsbury golf club) and Elite group (held at The Shropshire golf centre).  These sessions go on throughout the year and players are invited to attend by the County Junior Officer (CJO).  If any player is interested in joining a group, please contact The Junior Organiser directly.

Junior fixtures can be separated into different categories: –

Matches – we take part in the MNR league with both scratch and handicap players.  This league offers the girls opportunities for competitive golf against 5 other counties in the region (Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland; Lincolnshire; Nottinghamshire; Staffordshire).  The season culminates in a Festival held every year in August at Branston golf club.  We also have an annual match against Cheshire and one against Hereford & Worcestershire.

County competitions – Each season we hold a stroke play Championship and a Stableford championship.

Other Competitions – We hold several fun events throughout the year for all to get involved.  These are listed in the Schedule.   The girls are also eligible to play in several competitions run by SHUGC and these are also listed on the Schedule.    Players with a handicap are also encouraged to take part in the MNR girls Championships which offer a 36 hole and 18-hole event.

Pee Wee tour – This is held in the summer school holidays and consists of 4 events around the County.  Details and entry forms can be found on the website.    PEE WEE TOUR 2026
