As you will be aware, the current preferred lies period runs from 1 October 2019, through to 30 April 2020. After consideration, consultation and review, England Golf will be extending the preferred lies period until 31 May 2020. This decision has been based on the severe weather that has been experienced over recent weeks, and its impact. Please accept this notification of the preferred lies extension, for closely-mown areas (fairways and green fringes only), which must be communicated to your clubs via their committees and decision makers. England Golf will be reviewing this extension period during April 2020.
