Shropshire were hosts for the MN 2nd team finals this year on 24th August 2017 at Worfield Golf Club. The final this year was between Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire. I had the pleasure of watching some very competitive but friendly golf matches played on a beautifully prepared golf course. Many thanks go to the greenkeeper at Worfield for his excellent work in preparing the course to a high standard. A very close final was won eventually by Derbyshire on holes up, after finishing the matches all square on points. Derbyshire were delighted as they had never reached the final before.
Very special thanks go to club delegate Sally Weaver, and the ladies of Worfield, for going ‘above and beyond’ to make sure that the teams had an enjoyable day and that everything ran smoothly throughout the day. Thanks also to Trish McGloin for her preparation for the day, President Janet Sadler for starting the matches and Sally Gould for refereeing throughout a long day.
One day it will be our turn to be in the final! (report from SLCGA 2nd team Captain,Linda Mottram)
