SLCGA held the Girls Championships at The Astbury on Tuesday and 15 girls battled it out in a variety of competitions to decide our County Champions for 2022.
Katelyn Wilkie (Lilleshall) got off to a great start in the 36 hole Gross championship event with a first round of 72, closely followed by Abby Birchall (The Shropshire) who shot a 75, these two girls went out in the afternoon session with all to play for. After a couple of minor glitches in her game, Katelyn held her nerve to come out on top with an afternoon round of 76 to Abby’s 79. Sophie Brothwood (Wrekin) finished in 3rd place only 1 shot behind Abby.

In the 18 hole handicap championship event Lucy Crump played a very steady round of golf retaining her title for the second year with a nett score of 65! Newcomer Denni Coleman from Llanymynech came second with a nett 69.

We had 4 beginners playing in a nine hole competition. Charlotte Barnes from Bridgnorth took first place with Meara Coleman (Llanymynech) runner up.
