On Thursday 28 August 36 players, representing 7 Shropshire clubs, played in the first ever 9 hole Texas Scramble for ladies with a handicap up to 54. The event, held at Horsehay Village Golf Club, was to enjoy golf and to experience playing in a SLGCA competition.
First prize was won by Sally Major & Mary Lucas representing Meole Brace with a fabulous score of 23 points – winning £20.00 each.
Second prize was taken by Josephine Macdonald & Karen Ashcroft representing Church Stretton with a score of 21 points – winning £15.00 each.
Third prize went to Karen Sullivan & Sue Byatt of Ludlow with 19 points winning on the back 6 with 14 points – winning £10.00 each.
The day was rounded off with a delicious finger sandwich and cream tea.
The day and format was very successful so look out for more similar competitions for ladies of any handicap in 2026.
