The 2025 County championship was fought out in match play between Lauren Crump and younger sister Lucy Crump.
“This is the first time in our county history that 2 sisters have played in a final to win the championship” said Margaret Ratcliffe, County President.
The SLCGA has been holding its annual county championship at the beautifully presented Market Drayton Golf Club.
The event starts with 18 holes stroke play from which the top 8 gross scores qualify for match play rounds. The next best 4 gross enter the match play event for the Plate Competition.
During the semi-finals, Lauren Crump had a resounding win of 8&7, whilst Lucy Crump qualified for her place in the final with a 2&1 win.
So the two sisters battled it out for the championship trophy, which culminated in a convincing win for the odds-on favourite, Lauren.
Said Mum, Catherine Crump, “We are so proud of both our girls being in the county championship finals; Lauren for retaining her championship title for the third year and with Lucy reaching the final in her first entry into the championships.”

Lauren also received the trophy for best round in 18 hole medal qualifying round.

The Plate Final was an exciting junior shoot out between Denni Coleman and Aliyah Summers, with Denni coming out on top with a 3&1 win.
