The scratch team of Djalece Van der Merwe (Captain), Katelyn Wilkie, Jess Warren (Vice Captain), Xyra Van der Merwe and Abby Birchall had a great start to the season at Chesterfield Golf Club on Sunday 24 April.
The morning session saw the girls beat Leicestershire 3-2 with wins from Abby and skipper Djalece. The third win came from a walk over. In the afternoon we had the tougher match against Derbyshire and managed a well deserved draw (21/2– 21/2 ) with Xyra holding her nerve for a half in the lead match and Jess Warren in her debut scratch match holding her nerve on the 18 hole to make a putt to half the hole and take the win 1 up!! (The second win came from an unfortunate Derbyshire injury necessitating retirement).
