Seniors Results 2014

MATCH v WHLVA @ BRIDGNORTH Lost 5-3

The match was played on 30th July on yet another sunny day and all the Ladies seemed to have enjoyable matches.  Bridgnorth golf course was in very good condition. We were welcomed by the Lady Captain, Bridget and the Lady President of WHLVA set us on our way.
We had a fairly close contest and most of the matches went to the 17th or 18th greens.
The overall result was a win for WHLVA 5-3. Successful Shropshire pairings wereJayne Sandford and Jean Evans, Angela Hinton and Linda Mottram and Pauline Davies with Sue Field all enjoying good wins.
The Senior section has just one more match to play this season against the County Senior gentlemen at Ludlow Golf Club on August 11th. Fingers crossed for more good weather and a win.  (Kathy Evans, Seniors’ Captain)

TRI- MATCH REPORT – SHROPSHIRE WON
The Shropshire Senior Ladies and Shropshire Senior Gentlemen had an enjoyable day playing the Tri-match at The Herefordshire Golf Course on Thursday 25 July.
Six Ladies and six Gents from Shropshire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire played a Better Ball Stableford scoring competition and five out of each six pairings counted for the overall result. The match was hosted this year by Herefordshire.
The match was played in an excellent spirit. It’s a fairly serious match and there are some ancient rivalries amongst the pairings but the eventual outcome was a
friendly affair.
We are pleased to announce that Shropshire won for the fourth time on the run! The Senior Captains’ score was unfortunately the one to be discarded but we had
a very strong team following on behind. The best pair score was won by Worcestershire but Shropshire pair Sandy Johnson and Anne Belshaw came second and Shropshire’s Andy and Mair Robinson third. Congratulations to the team and Good Luck for next
year. (Kathy Evans, Seniors’ Captain)

MATCH v STAFFORDSHIRE  @ ENVILLE  Lost 6 -2

The County Seniors team enjoyed beautiful weather at Enville on Monday 23rd July and also enjoyed good company. The course at Enville was in beautiful condition and if you managed to stay out of the trees and heather some good scores were possible. All of the  matches were very close but Staffordshire came out the eventual winners 6 matches to 2.

We look forward to hosting the match next year and perhaps exacting some revenge. (K.Evans, Seniors’ Captain)

MATCH v JUNIOR GIRLS  2½ – 2½

A very friendly match was played today between the County Senior Ladies and the County Junior girls at Market Drayton GC in some beautiful weather.
The format for the day was four ball better ball with two Senior ladies playing against two of the Junior girls.
Not playing myself I enjoyed watching some lovely golf and the Junior section should be very pleased that they have some very talented youngsters which bodes well for the future.
The match was played in a very friendly but fairly serious atmosphere and the match finished a creditable half at two wins each.
The Seniors section are looking forward to four more matches later in the season against Worcestershire and Herefordshire ladies, South Staffs ladies and the County gentlemen and hope for continued good weather.  (K.Evans, Seniors’ Captain)
