Shropshire Girls vs Worcs & Herefordshire – Jessica Smith Trophy

We faced very stiff competition in both our Scratch Match and Handicap match at Worfield but despite all this the girls rallied and stayed smiling throughout the day!  The handicap team welcomed two newcomers: Jessica Warren and Seren Ramsey who both performed extremely well only losing their games on the 18th hole!
Results:
Scratch match – Worcestershire & Hereford 4  Shropshire 1
Handicap match –  Worcestershire & Hereford 4  Shropshire 1

Many Thanks to Worfield for courtesy of the course on the day and particularly to Anne Holland for all her work prior to and during the day.
Well done Girls – you battled well!!

Shropshire Junior Girls shine at England Golf MNR championships

4 Shropshire Junior girls entered the Midland North Region Championships played at Patshull Park on 13 August.  In the Challenge Event (18 holes) Lizzie Rooney from Shifnal took the gross challenge trophy and Seren Ramsey (Henlle Park) battled it out against Jessica Warren (Wrekin) to claim the Nett Challenge trophy – this result was decided after a 3 hole countback!   Ellie Potts played a fantastic second 18 holes to back up her steady first 18 holes to win the Nett Championship (36 Holes) trophy.  Well done to all our girls who took part in this event – once again, they did their County proud!

2nd Team Match vs Derbyshire away – result

In the morning foursomes Shropshire  team won 1 game, lost 1 and halved  one, so both county teams were all square and ready to play the afternoon singles. Shropshire found success in 5 of the afternoon singles games making the overall match result of Shrops 6½ – Derbyshire 2½.  A fantastic conclusion to this years series of matches

Thankyou to all players & Ormonde Fields GC for hosting the event.

Double Success for Seniors

It has been a very busy and winning week for our Senior Ladies.  They played the SHUGC gentlemen at Mile End on 27 July and won with 301 points to 277.  On 1 August they hosted Worcs and Hereford Vets at Shrewsbury GC winning 5:3.  Both matches were very enjoyable. The County thanks Mile End and Shrewsbury for hosting these events and making the teams feel very welcome.
